„The human being, creature of eyes, needs the image.“ – Leonardo da Vinci
When the Federal Republic was founded in 1949 in Hamburg, the Prahl family later moved to Bavaria, where Walter Prahl attended school in Munich. He was already fascinated by photography in his youth, which is why he experimented with art in his own photo laboratory. His first analog photographs, reflections and solarizations were created here.
After studying art history, Walter Prahl and his later wife Nicoline founded their own fashion company in Munich, where, among other things, he was responsible for the design of the catalogs. After a successful 35 years, the company is sold to the next generation through a management buy-in.

Because of the company, many trips are made to Asia, among other things, to discover new inspirations. And even after the sale of the company, many impressions are recorded on trips to Jaipur, Koh Samui and Bali that influence Walter Prahl’s world of images. In addition to the collection of ghost houses, a large part of the light painting is created on the beach on the island of Koh Samui.
On the trip to Marrakech, where André Heller visited the Anima Garden, a lot of material for the Magic Collection is created. The Magic collection consists of multiple reflections that are reminiscent of mandalas.
